Volunteering with Globalteer at the Peru Wildlife Sanctuary is a unique experience that gets you up close to rescued wildlife in the Peruvian Amazon. For over 15 years the Peru Wildlife Shelter has been rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing wildlife near Puerto Maldonado. The range of wildlife at the shelter varies from time to time, but generally includes, howler monkeys, capuchin monkeys and various other rainforest monkeys. The sanctuary also cares for several types of birds and other mammals: as well as sloths from time to time
Taking care all the rescued wildlife is no easy task, which is why the help of volunteers in invaluable to the project. Volunteers assist local staff with Caring for rescued animals, preparing their food and feeding the animals. As well helping maintain the upkeep of the sanctuary; including repairing enclosures, cutting leaves & trees and improving enclosure enrichment for the animals.
Volunteers stay onsite at the project, in simple, clean bungalows for a true jungle experience.
